We are very proud of one of our Podiatrists Emma Godson who a week ago completed the London Marathon.
Read about her marathon experience here.
” This time last week I was squeezed like a sardine on the Docklands Light Railway along with my 2 biggest supporters, my husband and my daughter. We arrived at Greenwich along with thousands of other runners all converging on the Red and Blue starts.
The atmosphere was amazing, everybody with one united goal to complete that 26.2 miles that was stretching out ahead of us all.
Nerves and excitement were palpable, made all the more visible with the enormous lines of runners lining up for the porta-loos, all eager to make that final visit before the start.
Talking to other runners, some had finishing times in mind with PB’s their aim, other’s like me with my Sea Urchin Spines still making their presence known in my right foot just wanted to enjoy the day and finish it off with the medal around my neck.
It never fails to amaze me the level of support that the spectators provide all around the course, the shouts of encouragement really helped to keep one foot moving in front of the other. The pain that seemed to emanate from every known joint in my feet and legs was incredible, but thinking about the charity I was running for, Heidi’s Heroes, resolved my determination to finish.
After a grueling 6 hours 23 minutes I crossed the finish line, wondering how on earth I was going to find my family in the bustling Horse Guards Parade. I didn’t have to wait for long, and our journey back home and the recovery could begin.
A huge thank you to all who supported me, through donations and words of encouragement, they really helped me get round the 26.2 miles.”
Donations are still coming in for Heidi’s Heroes, if you would like to donate to Emma’s fundraising page the address is: uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EmmaGodson1
