Verruca Needling

Verruca Needling is a minor surgical procedure that involves puncturing the verruca multiple times with a fine, sterile needle. This process pushes the viral-infected tissue deeper into the skin triggering your immune system to recognise and attack the infection from the inside out.

Does every verruca need to be treated?

Not necessarily – we typically treat either the first verruca that appeared, or we will treat the largest verruca that is present. Because this triggers an immune response, your body will get rid of the rest.

Does the procedure hurt?

The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, which numbs the area. You may feel a scratch and a sting when the anaesthetic is applied, and sometimes people feel some bruising and tenderness in the area afterwards, so it is recommended that you rest for the rest of the day after the procedure is done.

Is the procedure guaranteed?

Verruca needling has a very high success rate, with multiple studies showing around a 75% success rate within 3 months of needling, making it one of the most successful treatments available. However, unfortunately, no medical procedure is 100% guaranteed. Some people will need the treatment carried out more than once, so the treatment package includes up to 2 treatments.

Is the procedure suitable for everybody?

We need to carry out an initial consultation to assess suitability prior to carrying out the procedure, and we are not able to carry out the procedure on children aged below 7, people with compromised immune systems, people who are pregnant or breast feeding, or people with reduced vascular status to their feet.

How much does verruca needling cost?

Verruca needling costs £250 for a treatment package of up to 2 treatments.
